Creating an Avatar

It's easy to create an Avatar, and you will benefit from reaching a large audience and affecting them in an incredibly positive way.

Creating an avatar is like writing a book: your words will be read by AI, which in turn will manage the conversation with your reader. AI is very literal, and there's a special way of telling AI what to do called Prompt Engineering.

Avatars Read Markdown

Markdown is a very popular and easy way to tell the computer about the different parts of your writing. For example:

# A Book About Weekends

This book will help you plan weekends

## Step 1: Chose a place to visit

There are many nearby places to visit including parks, museums, and lakes.  If you are lucky you may live near a beach, river, or mountain.

In the above example, the name of the book "A Book About Weekends" starts with a single hash symbol #. Below the book name is some normal text, and then two hash symbols (##) indicate the start of a section.

There are many great tutorials on Markdown and even a cool online editor.

Talking books only really uses the two hash symbols (##) to divide your book into sections, so you already know everything you need about markdown!

Avatars Guide Conversations

Your avatars book is divided into sections based on your use of the two hash symbol (##) headers in your book.

For each section of your book, the Talking Books app chats with the user and asks questions about that section. When the app feels the user understands the section, the app will move on to the next section.

Create Your First Avatar

It's very simple to create and test your first avatar.

1. Open the Avatar Factory at https://avatarfactory.ai
2. Log in or create a new account (they are free!)
3. Make sure to check your text messages for a verification link from Avatar Factory. Tap on that link to get free credits to use for chats (Important for step 10 below)
4. On the bottom tab bar, tap the "More" icon, and then tap "My Avatars" from the list of links
5. On the "My Avatars" screen, under "Avatars you created" tap the (+) button to create a new avatar
6. You only need to fill in two fields to create the avatar: the title, and the content.
7. Enter a title
8. Type in some content using markdown. Make sure you use the double hash ## symbol to start your sections
9. Tap the "Create" button to create your new avatar
10. Back on the "My Avatars" screen you will see your new avatar. Tap the chat icon to the right of your avatar to chat with it.
